For many of you, this will be the first time you've visited Well Beyond Well's Reasons for the Seasons blog page--welcome! You have no idea how long I've been wanting to share this all with you. If you can picture the big arena of natural wellness and all the people, tools and information that exists within it, I have been both right there on the field getting all up in the game and simultaneously I've been on the sidelines cheering excitedly, trying to figure out how to let the people in the arena stands know that I'm a player!
So the Reasons for the Seasons blog is a step into THAT.
First, I needed to figure out what--of all the wisdom I’ve accumulated through my Eastern medical studies, holistic health insights, and natural wellness solutions--represents the greatest value to you. For starters, it’s important to get clear on what the ultimate mission is. For me, one of the most important things is empowering people to get beyond where they think their current levels of health are. Can we be stronger? Can we eat cleaner? Are there ways we can be less reliant on support outside of ourselves? Can we instead improve our lives with lifestyle changes? Can we go further with our health goals and wellness achievements than where we are now? How do we stretch significantly past where our health is now in ways that make a positive difference in our quality of life and longevity?
How do we get well BEYOND well?
Next, the critical key to moving beyond being "just well" is the idea of embracing the concept of prevention. One of my favorite sayings out of all the Eastern wisdom and Chinese proverbs I have come across in my decades of studying and using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is this:
Don’t wait until you are thirsty, to dig a well.
To me, that’s a mic drop moment. The big takeaway is this-- If you haven’t put the things in place that will support you best when an urgent health need comes up, you will be behind the proverbial eight ball. And your journey will be unnecessarily harder without the preparation or prevention than would have been possible otherwise. Perhaps, had you given prevention the attention it deserves, that urgent health issue may have never come to fruition at all.
It bears repeating. Don’t wait until you're parched to look for where that drink you're craving is coming from. Get your shovel out, pick your spot and start digging! The benefits to prevention--to having that well dug, full and waiting for you when needed--definitely correlate positively with your health longevity.
Essentially, the more you can focus on prevention, with good habits and natural tools to shore up your wellness goals, the less critical and urgent things will be when life tries to get your attention with a health concern.
So if you are striving for some extra umph! in your step, or a greater ease to getting things done-- now that your body seems to want to remind you a little more often than you'd like that you're no longer in your twenties, thirties or later--there are resources you can tap to dial up your “prevention meter.” The idea of sharing prevention tools is what sparked the creation of Well Beyond Well. There is so much empowering information that can help you start digging that well; so much science, artistry, and incredibly useful tools that you may be unaware of that can help you in your search for:
More energy, less fatigue
More clarity, less brain fog
More purpose, less confusion
More movement, less pain
More vibrancy, less lethargy
And so much of it is there for the asking.
To support the notion of prevention at the core of what's possible for optimal health in the second half of our lives, I have been creating a hybrid source of wisdom that speaks to years of traveling along my own wellness journey. Using my experience of both personal wins and setbacks, some of this wisdom from my natural medicine cabinet will be in the form of blog posts, videos, audios, and “lives” from me. Other resources available will be carefully curated information sourced from various places that is “Hand”-delivered to you at
wellbeyondwell.com along with in your in-box!
My intention is to always cull from what's out there with your wellness needs in mind, yet there is no better source of what best serves you than hearing it from you directly. So please feel free to offer up ideas by clicking the Contact tab above or any of the social media icons at the top right of this page. I want to remind you of your favorite high school science or art teacher whose door was always open and you could drop in, bring up a topic, and a lively conversation could ensue.
Now, back to that well. There are a great many opportunities to begin digging. To bolster
your health with preventative means. Try and take advantage of the tools and tips here and build a well that can be an abundant resource you can return to again and again for nourishment, wisdom and support.
Oh... and don't forget to explore the
